Safeguarding & Pre-Employment Checks
At Itchen Sixth Form College, we are fully committed to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults, ensuring their welfare and wellbeing remain our highest priority. We actively promote a safe and supportive environment where all learners feel protected, both within the College and during college-related activities.
To uphold this commitment, we have robust safeguarding measures in place, ensuring that all staff and volunteers share our dedication to student safety. As part of our Safer Recruitment process, successful applicants will be required to complete the following pre-employment checks:
- Two satisfactory employment references, including one from the most recent employer.
- An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which includes a Children’s Barred List check.
- Verification of the right to work in the UK, in accordance with Home Office guidelines.
- Proof of relevant qualifications.
Additionally, we will conduct an online search in line with regulatory guidelines. This will include reviewing publicly available information on social media platforms (such as Twitter/X, Facebook, and LinkedIn), as well as checking Google search results, including the ‘News’ and ‘Images’ sections. This process helps us ensure that applicants are suitable for working with young and vulnerable people and that their online presence aligns with the values and reputation of Itchen College.
We are committed to maintaining a culture of vigilance, ensuring that our safeguarding practices are effective, up to date, and actively promoted across the College.
